BOARD MEETING REPORT The Lake Saint Louis Sailing Club board met August 21st with five members in attendance. John Heilmann reported that the club has a current balance of $3,673.59. The only outgoing money for the period was a $100 donation to the LSL fireworks show. Ray Keith reported that only two people responded to his email about a social event in August so he assumed that everyone was busy. We will gear up social events this fall when the weather is cooler. Karen LeBeau said she is willing to organize a progressive dinner but needs 10 people to commit in order for it to be successful. Pearson Buell made a report on the possibility of new sailboat docks for Windjammer Pointe. The youth sailing lessons this summer were tremendously successful. It was decided that we would include these young people and their parents in our next social event. There was discussion about a date and time for the year-end awards banquet. The date was set for November 10th. Karen LeBeau agreed to serve on the Nominating Committee to enlist officers for next year. The next meeting will be September 25th. The meeting was adjourned. NEW SAILBOAT DOCKS We want to make you aware of a proposal we are preparing to make to the CA. We would like the to build 5-6 new docks at Windjammer Pointe that would be exclusively for sailboats. If we could get some sailors to prepay three years of dock fees the CA might agree to build the docks. The cost for three years would be approximately $730. Sailing Club members are being notified to give them first shot at dock reservations. If there are not enough from the club that need these docks we will contact other sailors on the lake who might want to dock their boats at Windjammer. This would greatly benefit the Sailing Club since it would put more sailors in close proximity with each other. If you are interested in dock space at Windjammer contact either Pearson Buell or Steve Easterwood. GRADUATION PARTY The graduation party has been postponed until next spring. YEAR END AWARDS BANQUET The date for the awards banquet has been set for November 10th. We will meet at Ruggeris in Wentzville at 6:00 p.m. The back room is reserved for us. Make plans now to attend. SAILBOAT RACING Reserve this date on your calendar! The Commodores Cup will be Saturday, November 3rd. We are working on a race format that will make everyone from newcomers to experienced racers competitive. Make plans now to race with us!!! FINAL THOUGHTS Our thoughts and prayers go out to two members who are going through a particularly tough time right now. Don Allebach spent some time recently in the hospital and is trying to regain his strength. Ray Keith was bitten by a brown recluse spider and spent close to a week in the hospital. Were rooting for your recovery, guys! |
